《이음 지음》 도시의 경관: 연결과 공존
The National Asian Culture Center's combined exhibition, "Urban Landscape: Commectivity and Coexistence," stems from this year's core theme of the ACC, 'Urban Culture.' Focusing on the shared theme of 'Coexistence in Architecture' within urban spaces, the exhibition visually introduces the contemporary artistic language of both domestic and international artists. In this exhibition, the ‘Construction’ of architecture and the connected ‘Coexistence’ of space and time were visualized formatively with the meaning of ‘Connectivity’.
국립아시아문화전당 복합전시2관의 융복합콘텐츠전시 <이음 지음>은 올해 문화전당의 핵심 주제인 ‘도시문화’에서 출발하였다. 그 중에서도 도시 공간 공통의 소재인 ‘건축의 공존성(Coexistence)’을 바탕으로 국내외 예술가들의 현대적 미술 언어를 가시화 하여 소개한다. 이번 전시에서는 건축의 ‘지음(Construction)’과 시공간의 연결적 ‘공존성(Coexistence)’을 ‘이음(Connectivity)’이라는 의미에 담아 조형적으로 시각화하였다.

Take a look inside the square box made of metal. The buildings of various colors and materials are repeatedly expanding and moving away. If I just look at it, it feels like the building is also looking at me. When you walk along the horizontal line where the works are arranged, the buildings revealed by light appear to be reflected in the metal grid frame and a shimmering light is emitted. The author believed that the colors and surfaces of the buildings that fill the city meet light and air to create a unique atmosphere in the city and respond to the people who live in that space. The buildings in the video were taken in areas where the artist lives or lives, including Seoul, Goyang, Paju, and Gwangju. In particular, in this work, the author, who was born and raised in Gwangju, experienced the May 18th Movement during his school days. The buildings symbolizing the democratic uprising stand out. Although they appear similar, the illusion created by different city buildings shows the city's desires, memories, and people's lives.
금속으로 만들어진 사각 박스 안을 들여다봅니다. 색색의 빛깔과 각각의 재질을 가진 건물들의 모습이 확대되고 멀어지기를 반복하고 있다. 가만 보고 있으면 건물 역시 나를 보고 있는 것만 같다. 작품이 일렬로 배치된 수평을 따라 걸어보면, 빛에 의해 드러나는 건축물들이 금속 격자 프레임에 반사되고 아른아른한 빛이 뿜어져 나오는 것처럼 보인다. 작가는 도시를 채우는 건축물의 색, 재료의 표면이 빛과 공기를 만나 도시의 독특한 분위기를 만들고, 그 공간을 살아가는 사람들에 반응한다고 생각했다. 영상 속 건물들은 서울과 고양, 파주, 그리고 광주 등 작가가 거주하거나 생활하는 지역에서 담은 것들이다. 특히 이번 작품에는 광주에서 나고 자란 작가가 학창시절 경험한 5.18. 민주항쟁을 상징하는 건축물들의 모습이 두드러진다. 비슷한 것처럼 보여도 서로 다른 도시의 건축물이 만드는 환영은 도시의 욕망과 기억, 그리고 사람들의 삶을 보여준다.
