Sangmugwan 상무관 (2019)

폼보드로 만들어진 상무관 모형, 4 비디오카메라 4 비디오프로젝터, 4모터+가변설치

The Sangmugwan was used as a body checkpoint where the bodies of the victims who were killed during the 5.18 Gwangju Democratization Uprising were temporarily stored and confirmed to their families. It is made of foam board and 4 small video cameras are slowly moving inside the unstable, large and empty model, and the two images are installed inside and outside of the model and projected to the exhibition wall through the wall of the model. It is shown to the audience in real time. Through this, the boundaries between inside and outside are broken down, the shadows of images and projection lights overlap like layers, and my memories and history, victims and perpetrators, the past and the present are engraved on the walls of the exhibition hall as illusions.

 

상무관은 518 광주민주화항쟁 당시 희생된 시민들의 시신을 임시 보관하고 가족들에게 확인시켰던 시체검안소로 사용되었다. 폼보드로 만들어져 불안정하면서도 크고 텅빈 모형의 내부에는 4개의 소형비디오카메라가 서서히 움직이며 내부를 찍는다. 이렇게 찍힌 비디오 이미지는 모델 내부 및 외부에 설치된 2 개의 비디오 프로젝터를 통해 모델 벽을 통해 전시장 벽에 투사되며, 카메라로 촬영 한 비디오 이미지와 모델 건물의 실루엣이 겹치는 것을 보여준다. 이를 통해 안과 밖의 경계가 허물어지며 영상과 프로젝션 빛의 그림자가 레이어처럼 겹쳐지며 나의 기억과 역사, 피해자와 가해자, 과거와 현재가 환영처럼 전시장 벽면에 새겨진다.
