《To Reach a Star》
In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, this special exhibition was planned to arouse national interest and draw out world historical significance. It monumentally embodies the sublime beauty of the May 18 Gwangju spirit and delivers a future-oriented message through art, including overseas. 24 participating artists invited from Gwangju and all over the country created an exhibition space made up of metaphors and suggestions through various artistic works.

《별이 된 사람들》
5·18 광주민주화운동 40주년을 기념하여 전국적 관심을 불러일으키고 세계사적 의미를 이끌어내기 위해 기획된 특별전으로 5·18광주정신의 숭고미를 기념비적으로 구현해 예술을 통한 미래지향적 메시지 전달하기 위해서 해외를 비롯한 광주와 전국 각지에서 초대된 24명의 참여 작가들이 다양한 예술작업들을 통한 은유와 암시로 이루어진 전시 공간을 만들었습니다.

City of Gaze-Gwangju(2020)

Jeong Jeong-ju's work [City of Gaze] (2020) builds an actual architectural model that was the stage for the May 18 incident and integrates the audience into the stage through the movement of a small camera operating within it. From the place where the uprising took place to the place where the bodies are buried, these are all places that the people of Gwangju are familiar with. Now the dictator is gone, but the model of an insidious surveillance society has now transitioned into a regulated society where people must follow their own rules.
정정주의 작품 [응시의 도시](2020)는 5.18당시 사건의 무대가 되었던 실제의 건축 모델을 축조하고 그 안에서 작동하는 작은 카메라의 움직임을 통해 관객을 무대에 통합시킨다. 항쟁이 일어난 장소부터 시체들이 안치된 장소까지, 광주사람들은 다 알만한 장소들이다. 이제 독재자는 사라졌지만, 음험한 감시 사회의 모델은 이제 알아서 규범을 지켜야 하는 조절사회로 이행했다.
