《Post Media and Site》

The 《Theater Post Media and Site》 exhibition is one of the last special exhibitions held by the 25-year-old Busan Museum of Art ahead of its renovation, and compares the museum to a ‘theater’ and the exhibition hall to its ‘stage’. In this exhibition, the ‘exhibition space’, which is compared to the ‘stage’ of a ‘theater’, refers to a space that not only resets the distance between the stage and the audience and diversifies the format of the work, but also actively intervenes in daily life. In this way, we designate the stage of the theater as the ‘Busan Museum of Art exhibition space’ and attempt to experience the space of the Busan Museum of Art, where numerous exhibitions have been created through the artist’s works. While general exhibitions only provide appreciation of the installed works, the “Theater” exhibition was designed to project each individual’s impressions and examine the space of the Busan Museum of Art through the works. We aim to reexamine the history of the museum's sense of place through the works and actions of contemporary artists, and find the sense of place that a new art museum should have.

《극장 Post Media and Site》전은 25년 역사의 부산시립미술관이 리노베이션을 앞두고 개최하는 마지막 기획전시 중 하나로, 미술관을 ‘극장’에, 전시장을 그 ‘무대’에 비유한다. 본 전시에서 ‘극장’의 ‘무대’에 비유되는 ‘전시공간’은 무대와 관객 간의 거리를 재설정하고, 작품의 형식을 다분화할 뿐 아니라, 일상에 적극적으로 개입하는 공간을 일컫는다. 이렇게 극장의 무대를 ‘부산시립미술관 전시공간’으로 특정하고, 작가의 작품들을 통해 수많은 전시가 생성되었던 부산시립미술관의 공간을 추체험하도록 시도하고자 한다. 일반적인 전시가 설치된 작품 위주의 감상만을 제공하였다면, 《극장》전에서는 각자의 감상을 투사하고 작품을 통해 부산시립미술관의 공간 자체도 함께 살피도록 구성하였다. 동시대 작가들의 작품과 행위로 미술관이라는 장소성이 가지는 역사를 재조명하고, 새로운 미술관이 가져야 하는 장소성을 찾고자 한다.
